WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will give users more control over their privacy and accounts. The new feature, called “Alternate Profiles”, allows the creation of a secondary profile that can only be seen by certain people.
How to create two profiles on one WhatsApp account
Currently in beta on Android, Alternate Profiles aims to improve privacy on WhatsApp. It will improve the existing options for hiding profile details from certain people, allowing you to create two profiles on one account.
According to early reports, with Alternate Profiles, users will be able to set a separate profile photo and username that only certain people can see. Similar to Instagram’s Close Friends, you will be able to share this profile with whomever you want.
This will also allow you to create different profiles for different groups. For example, friends and family can use your primary profile, but you can also create an alternative profile that only business contacts can see.
According to screenshots from the testing phase, the secondary profile is configured from WhatsApp’s privacy settings menu. The feature is aimed at users who want to better distinguish between personal and work life on a single WhatsApp number.
On the other hand, WhatsApp recently made it possible to use multiple accounts in one app. This eliminated the need for a secondary device. The platform will allow you to add two accounts to one device as long as you have a second phone number or a phone that supports eSIM or dual/multi-SIM.
